The City of Lansing is seeking a full-time Engineer Technician Supervisor 34 to join their professional team. This is a great opportunity for those seeking to utilize their technical engineering background and education to ensure the City’s standards, policies, and procedures are adhered to. The City offers a competitive wage and benefit package including paid vacation, sick and holiday leave. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assigns, directs, supervises, reviews and approves work of technical staff of the Business, Permits, and Technology Division.
  • Reviews, plans, schedules, directs, inspects, and documents related activities performed by utilities, contractors and the public with regard to permitted work in the City owned right-of-way.
  • Enforces State/City policy and procedures with regard to private and public use of the City owned right-of-way. Investigates/researches various problems and take corrective measures.
  • Assists in the development of the Permits Office annual budget by gathering and creating documentation in support of the budget requests.

Ideal candidates will possess the following:

  • A valid driver’s license
  • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Construction Technology, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Comprehensive Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Certification
  • Certification from the State of Michigan as a Quality Storm Water Operator
  • Three years of experience performing engineering technician duties to include work with sewer systems.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience as a work group leader or supervisor where work direction was given to others or a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in permitting and code compliance is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and specifications; Traffic Asset Management; and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
