The City of Lansing is seeking an Accounting and Operations Specialist 28 to join the Operations and Maintenance Division. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel; office and accounting experience, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, payroll, customer service, confidential records management and tracking inventory. This is a great opportunity to join a team of individuals dedicated to the advancement of Lansing. The position pays between $33,027 - $48,699. The City offers a competitive wage and benefit package including paid vacation, sick and holiday leave. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs payroll functions; performs accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Tracks and maintains inventories of equipment and supplies
  • Compiles information as needed for Freedom of Act requests
  • Assists citizens with inquiries and complaints regarding safety, health, and other issues.
  • Provides exceptional customer service both internally and externally

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • An Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business Administration or related field is preferred.
  • Three years of diversified office and accounting experience, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer relations, records management, payroll, word processing, and tracking expenditures.
  • A proven track record of punctuality and a good work ethic
