The City of Lansing is seeking a full-time Plant Operations Supervisor to oversee the operations staff, machinery, and equipment at its wastewater treatment plant. This is a great opportunity to work in one of the largest wastewater facilities in Michigan that is run with state-of-the art technology.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assigning, supervising and monitoring the work of Plant Operations employees.
• Checks the performance of pumps, motors, controls, process machinery, and equipment; monitors plant processes and machinery operations.
• Reviews and analyzes information produced by analog and digital meters and graphs, database information, and interprets historical trending charts.
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems with plant processes and equipment, as well as pumping station strategies and equipment, and ensures that appropriate adjustments are made in operating systems.
• Ensures that all safety practices and procedures are followed and takes immediate actions when potential hazards are identified in the plant facility and pumping stations.
• Supervises and participates in maintenance and repair projects on equipment and machinery.
• Compiles daily and monthly plant operational data for overtime sheets, gasoline usage, filter backwash schedules, and time cards; maintains inventory.
• Gives plant tours and performs other public relations functions.

Ideal candidates will possess:

• The ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, and overtime is required.
• Five years or more of experience working in a wastewater treatment plant with increasing levels of responsibilities is required.
• A Michigan Class "C" Wastewater Certification is required or an equivalency:
• Applicants without the certification must be eligible in accordance with State Law to write the Class "C" Sewage Plant Operator Certification or must have previously successfully held the position and currently meet the posted education and experience requirements.
• A valid driver's license.
• Supervisory experience is preferred.
